Relaxing at Covered Portage Cove

Friday, July 25, 2014

Our intention was to move on to a new anchorage today and meet up with some boating friends but we were feeling so comfortable and happy here that we decided to stay put. The setting is simply beautiful and we just hadn’t had enough of it. Lori and Fred as well as Kat and Court, all people we met in Bayfield, are coming to this anchorage tomorrow so we will have some fun together then.

Here we sit at Covered Portage Cove.

Anyway, Rick and I had a great day today together. We snooped around on the dinghy, read, napped, and went for a hike to the top of the cliff that surrounds this anchorage. I did some mean cookin’ and worked on this blog. Rick did a few maintenance jobs around the boat. Also, I ended up following Rick’s example and took a swim to clean up and refresh myself for the day. The water was very cold but I have to admit that it felt good when I got out. I’ll have to remember that good feeling tomorrow when it’s time to jump in again.

We met a couple from Windsor, Jamie and Miriam, who are on a Bayfield-like sailboat, a Gozzard, that Rick recognized from St. Clair Marina. Small world.

Anyway, this ended up to be a wonderful vacation day at an awesome anchorage.
